Meanings in a logo design

Does it really matter that a designer spent time forming a concept to create a logo design?
To the untrained eye, I personally think it doesn’t. But for the designer it’s imperative. First impressions count and that depends on weather the logo is attractive or not. With that being said, I still think it’s an important part of the design process for every designer in order to help him/her create a more suitable logo for the client and appropriate industry.
