What to look for in a Local Website Design Company

Contracting a local website design company can be complicated and sometimes scary. This is why you need to take a deep dive into knowing who will be working on your oh-so-important website project.

Here are a FIVE things to look for in a Local Website Design Company.

First, how long have they been in business?

Knowing how long a business has been operating isn’t a top priority. Still, you want to at the very least feel comfortable knowing that this company won’t just close up shop after you give a large deposit on your website project.

At least twice a year, we hear a horror story about someone working with a web designer, and they disappeared mid-project. Or even worse, they’re out of the country, and now they don’t answer the phone.

Odds are the longer they’ve been in business, the more secure you should feel that they won’t leave you hanging.

What do the reviews say?

The internet has given us many things in the digital world. One of those things is the ability to comment and share our experiences. This allows users to publicly see unaltered reviews and experiences people have when purchasing a product or service from almost any business in the world.

Reviews should give you a deeper understanding of the company you’re vetting, their quality of work, and most importantly, how they make their customers feel.

One small piece of advice we would give is to read the reviews carefully. As business owners, we understand that sometimes the relationship between a business and the customer doesn’t work. And we’ve seen instances where companies were bashed unfairly.

Does their Style of Work Match what you’re looking for

As the client, you should get precisely what you are looking for. Settling for a project that doesn’t meet your expectations or your brand’s style will not only leave you filled with resentment but will be a complete waste of time in the long run.

Be sure to ask for samples of their most recent work. Then, you can evaluate the style, quality, and how a website functions. If you think this doesn’t matter, try asking a firm specializing in corporate finance design to design your lifestyle houseware brand. It might not work out.

Do you like the people

We think about every initial meeting with a client like a first date. We’re both eager to know what the other brings to the table. For example, are they good-looking, can they make me laugh, do they have nice teeth?

Just kidding, it’s more like do I like their work? Are they just “yes-ing” me to death? Can I trust them?

Even if someone was referred to you, they might be great, but they might not be great for you.

Can you afford them?

The hard truth is that a good web design agency isn’t a cheap one. But as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

Yes, you can go online and get someone to do your website for real cheap. You can go on Squarespace, Wix, or even GoDaddy and get a quick site up yourself. Or you can even get people from Singapore, Thailand, or Ukraine, but that will also come at a cost.

The hard truth is that you need to invest in something that will work for your business. Not something that will cost you more in time, energy, and missed opportunities.

We hope these tips help you make the right decision.
