Each year, there is a new marketing buzzword that changes up the idea of conventional marketing. We are sure you don’t need us to tell you, Content Marketing is all the rage this year!
The phase “Content Marketing” is always being thrown around, but do you know what it really means? According to the Content Marketing Institute, “Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly-defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.”
Seems simple enough, right? Wrong! Handling the newsletters, social media, blog posts, infographics, videos, white papers, case studies and podcasts can become daunting very quickly, not to mention you have to keep everything interesting!
Here are three steps we found helped us build our content marketing, without going completely insane:
1. Know your brand voice!
When you think about your company as a person, how would they speak? Make sure the voice is always consistent throughout all marketing material.
2. Base your content on topics you know best!
If you don’t know a topic inside and out, it is unrealistic that you will be able to speak about it and keep it interesting.
3. Editorial Calendar
Consistency will be key. Create an adjustable editorial calendar that will help you guide you content and maintain a presence on social media and with your clients!
